What is ISKCON Prison Ministry?
ISKCON Prison Ministry (IPM), is the DBA of Vaisnava Outreach, Inc. We have been tending to the spiritual needs of inmates all over the states for over thirty years.
Volunteers of the ISKCON Prison Ministry correspond with hundreds of inmates all over the States and send them devotional material; Srila Prabhupada’s books, Back To Godhead magazines, music and lectures CDs, DVDs, MP# narrations, pictures, BBT calendars, as well as japa and neck beads, incense and sometimes tilaka. Hundreds of inmates take up the chanting of the Hare Krsna maha-mantra and many become life-long, dedicated devotees of the Lord. Some inmates even take initiation, sometimes while still in prison.
IPM operates entirely with the help of our volunteers— who donate time to write inmates and sometimes visit them in prison—and donors, who generously donate laksmi, books, and other material. Both volunteers and donors work in a perfect cooperative spirit for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Caitanya.
This ministry is truly a labor of love.
